The BMW 1600 is a New Class model which replaced the BMW 1500 in 1965. The 1600 featured a 1.6 liter M10 4 cylinder engine with an 84mm bore of the BMW 1800 with the 71mm stroke of the BMW 1500 M10. The increase in displacement allowed the M10 to generate another 3 horsepower over the 1.5 liter variant used in the 1500. The 1600 was introduced in the United States in 1965 and was available up to 1971.
